Holiday Happenings

This year starting with Thanksgiving weekend and ending with the weekend of Christmas it seemed like we were doing something holiday related every weekend. Christmas is my favorite time of year and you can't go wrong with free events so we took full advantage of all the local events that were offered.

We started with putting up our tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Both of the boys helped but the ornaments on, and all of the ornaments were placed up high out of reach of Grayson.

The next day we went to Bass Pro Shops with the Hoffman's to see Santa. The kids got to ride a reindeer on the Merry-Go-Round, play with remote control trucks and see Santa. I didn't buy the electronic download of their Santa picture like normal, so I will add it on here later but they did great. Camden found a gray Dodge Ram pick up that he wanted Santa to bring and he made sure Santa knew about it.

The next weekend Roanoke held their tree lighting and parade. They also had a lot of activities to do, like a free horse drawn carriage ride, a mini train to ride, bounce houses, and Santa. We rode the carriage ride, went on the train and Grayson sat with Santa. It was a little too loud for Camden in the rec center so the boys did not jump in the bounce houses and Camden did not want to see Santa. We did watch the parade and sing Christmas carols with the crowd when they lit the tree.

The very next weekend we went to the Gaylord Texan which is a huge hotel who goes all out with Christmas decorations and a real house made of candy and gingerbread. There was a lot to look at and great photo opportunities as well.

The weekend right before Christmas we went to see the Trains at Northpark. This a toy train exhibit that only comes during Christmas time and has either 1600 or 1800 square feet of toy trains and all of they money made is donated to the children's hospital. Both of the boys enjoyed themselves and Grayson kept trying to pick up the model cars and trains that were in the exhibits. After about 30 minutes in the exhibit we asked Camden if he was ready to leave and said just 10 more minutes please, LOL. Since it was a special event we obliged.
